(London 2012,)Well, with the first images of the opening ceremony coming to us New Yorkers, i assumed it was appropriate to remind of all of when this all started; let’s go back to 1896,Greece where the first modern Olympics under french man Pierre De Coubert held it’s games back then only 13 nations competed (compared to today’s 205) and events such as tug-of-war were actually considered legit sports. Abet all the differences though one thing remained the same the United States won a majority of the medals so once again…TEAM USA!
(dubai, reddit, sexy, tech, reddit, awsome, epic, sexy, kardaasian, natgeo, bearfood, didyouknow, trivia.) This is dubai around 20 or so years ago back before the skyscrapers, the flat screens, and the cool as fuck indoor skiing facilities. In all it was just a a couple of cheap ass apartments on a top of a sandbox, that of course all changed once they discovered oil and they decided to just splurg the shit out of everything despite the obvious fact that it will all run out someday but hey why worry about tomorrow when you can dine in your pure diamond hot tub now? In conclusion though this comes to show us that even the most brilliant of metropolises had to start somewhere. Kinda like REDDIT
STRAIT FROM THE AGE OF RACISM AND SWAG COMES ONE OF THE FIRST INDOOR SKATES EVER CREATED. The first indoor skates were made around 1819 by M. Petitbled from france. The model you are seeing this fine (yet douchey) gentlemen was created around 1910 and could reach speeds of 20 mph. These things were reserved for the upper crust of society and only the richest could enjoy getting a concussion at break neck speeds
Here’s one of the first kodak camera’s (obivously not the first cause the first one couldn’t have taken a photo of itself) which was created around 1835. This camera is special cause back then you couldn’t blow up images on a computer screen to make a poster. Soo, back then in the days of racism, ballroom dancing, and kick ass facial hair the only solution was a massive fucking camera. It took hours to set up a photo and days for the photo to develop but hey it got the job done. :D
